Treat the Injury, Not Just the Fatigue

A gladiator returning alive is not necessarily ready for the next fight. This Dominus Gladiatus injury recovery guide explains how to use the Infirmary and what happens if you remove a fighter before treatment finishes. Check injuries separately from fatigue so that a rest break does not hide an untreated problem.

The official Dominus Gladiatus updates describe several revisions to injuries and recovery during the demo. The September 17 change is especially important: early Infirmary departure removes injuries according to completed recovery time and restores fatigue to its value before admission.

Put the Injured Fighter in the Infirmary

First inspect the gladiator after returning from the arena. The August 30 update states that arena injuries are revealed once fighters are back in the Ludus, so a victory screen is not the final condition check.

If the fighter needs treatment, build the Infirmary if it is not already available, then assign the injured gladiator to it. Metal Face's recorded demo player experience follows this sequence after a main fighter is injured: construct the facility, wait for it to finish, and send the fighter in for treatment.

Before assigning your next arena lineup:

  1. Inspect the injured fighter's actual condition.
  2. Check the next match's date and required number of entrants.
  3. Assign treatment and watch its progress.
  4. Keep another suitable fighter available if the recovery schedule conflicts with the match.
  5. Inspect the treated fighter again before returning them to combat.

Do not assume a recorded demo construction price or treatment payment is a current universal fee. Check the values shown by your own game.

What Early Discharge Does

Leaving the Infirmary early is not an all-or-nothing shortcut to a completely recovered fighter. Under the September 17 rules, the injuries removed depend on the recovery time already completed.

Fatigue is handled separately: early departure restores it to the value the gladiator had before entering. That means time spent in treatment cannot simply be counted as guaranteed fatigue recovery.

If an approaching arena date forces a choice, inspect the result rather than assuming the treatment bar delivered everything you wanted. Check which injuries remain and how much fatigue the fighter now has. You may still need ordinary rest or Quarters before that gladiator is a sensible entrant.

Reduce the Chance of Needing Another Recovery Cycle

Manage fatigue before entering the arena. The August 30 developer update links arena injury risk to fatigue, rising from 25% at three fatigue to 50% at four and 100% at five. Those rules replaced an earlier simple victory-versus-defeat injury chance.

The Harden talent is described as immunity to fatigue-based arena injuries. That wording is limited: it does not establish immunity to all injuries from every source.

Morale also needs attention. The October 16 update says maximum injuries no longer immediately cause a suicide event. Instead, critical injuries increase that risk for gladiators already suffering from prolonged low morale. Treating an injury and improving an unhappy fighter's morale address different parts of the problem.

FAQ

Which building treats injuries?

The Infirmary. Quarters are used for fatigue recovery, so do not treat the two facilities as interchangeable.

What happens if I leave the Infirmary early?

Injuries are removed according to the recovery time completed, and fatigue returns to its pre-admission value under the September 17 update.

Can a gladiator be injured after winning?

Yes. The August 30 rules tie arena injury risk to fatigue rather than making victory a guarantee of safety. Check the fighter after returning to the Ludus.

Does Harden protect against every injury?

The official description specifically covers fatigue-based arena injuries. It does not justify claiming that the gladiator cannot be injured by any other cause.
